About

DevEvening is currently run by Matt Lacey and Craig Hogan.
It was originally started by Alex Mackey and Simon Pease but Alex has since moved to Australia (and started a new chapter of DevEvening in Melbourne), while Simon has other commitments but still attends some evenings.

DevEvening was created as place to learn about, discuss and share software development technology and techniques.
It also offers an opportunity for those interested in software development to socialise and network.

History

DevEvening started in spring 2008 and originally met at a hotel in Worplesdon. At the beginning of 2009 we outgrew that venue and moved to the Bird in Hand pub in Woking.

Originally all presentations were given by members but as we've grown we've been able to welcome visiting speakers too.

So far we've had talks on the following subjects: .NET 4.0, VS2010, ASP.NET 4.0, Virtualization, Ruby, RavenDB, MongoDB, MVC, Microsoft Robotics Studio, Web Security, Windows 7, MVVM, Cloud Computing, Myths of .NET, TDD, SQL 2008, Open XML, SVN, Git, Windows Mobile, Search Engine Optimization, Silverlight, ORMs, SQL Business Intelligence, LINQ, WCF, Generics & CSS.
If there are any subjects you'd like to hear about, please let us know.
